Jammu, July 12 :- Dy. Inspector General of Police DKR , Range Sh. Rafiq-Ul-Hussan- IPS review meeting of NDPS cases under investigation in DKR Range in his office chamber today.
DIG DKR Range apprised the police officers that the main objective of the meeting is to discuss the ways and means required to be adopted by the investigating officers for effective investigation of NDPS cases in order to increase the conviction rate. DIG directed all SHOs to investigate the NDPS cases professionally and follow the SOP laid down by PHQ as well as taking expert advice from prosecuting officers. During the meeting all under investigation cases of NDPS in the DKR Range were discussed one by one. DIG issued detailed instructions to SHOs attending the meeting on spot and directed them to have close supervision over investigation in their respective Police Stations especially in NDPS cases and investigate them professionally.
DIG further directed the SHOs that while producing challan in NDPS cases before the court of law, they should ensure that the charge sheet is scrutinized legally by the Chief Prosecuting officers/Senior Prosecuting officers and verified with comments that the same is fit to be produced in the court of law for trial, so that the conviction rate is increased and deterrence is also created in the minds of those dealing with such contraband/drugs as well as using them. He directed the SHOs to have a close watch on all the elements habitually involved in dealing with such contraband/drugs in their respective jurisdictions and take strict action against these peddlers.
DIG also directed the SHOs to identify the habitual offenders of NDPS in their respective jurisdictions so that legal proceedings are initiated to detain them under PSA.
